Mark Zeug was born and raised in rural Minnesota, and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and journalism from the University of St. Thomas, and a Master’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Maryland.
He began his writing career at the local county seat newspaper in rural Minnesota and, after additional newspaper and publication work in South Dakota and Minnesota, moved to Hawaii to marry Helene Horimoto, Ph.D., his spouse of 50 years. They have two grown children.
His professional career in Hawaii includes five years as a publications editor, 12 years in corporate communications,10 years as a communications consultant, and a dozen years as a volunteer sports/fitness-event organizer and official.
Now retired, he is focusing on writing fiction. This is his first novel, an award-winning mystery set in the beautiful Bitterroot Mountains of Montana. It earned first prize in mystery/thriller category of the 2017 Red City Review book awards.
